Take me back

to my childhood.

Talon and I were You-Tubing together tonight. Here's where we went...

Anything John Denver reminds me of my mom and dad.

My dad would bring his guitar when we went camping. Mom would make us banana bloats (marshmallows and Hershey bars with banana inside banana peels, wrapped in tin foil, in the fire). The 4 of us would sit together, next to the warm orange glow of the campfire with the cool, dark night sky, speckled with stars, above us. Dad would play and sing John Denver and Puff. Dad knew all the notes and all the words, but he never knew how to read music. He learned to play by ear.

Talon and I have watched Puff on You Tube before, and when I brought it up, he knew what it was before I even clicked Play. Even more amazing, at almost 3 years old, he knows almost all of the words to the chorus and sings along. The figgity-ness stops, and he sits on my lap, eyes glued to the screen, signing along.
